Fall Decor and Decor Changes

I have been wanting to get a quote to put above these pictures for some time. But for numerous reasons keep putting it off. I found these at the dollar tree, figured couldn't hurt to give a try. I like the looks of it a lot!
Then there is this cute little ornamental plan. I love the colors and couldn't resist it. Does anyone know if these will make it outside in freezing temps? We have been dipping pretty darn low at night. I hate to put it outside and kill it like the flower below!I picked these up last year for a front door piece I put together. Since then my dad took my old milk crate (used it for his garden as he thought we were tossing it out, haha!) and I found a new home for them this year. I LOVE black bears and they look good with the fall decor so I left them out.I've had this hurricane vase for a while now. It is fun to change with the seasons. I found a home for it, but quickly learned Maddy thought it as cool as I did so now it is searching for a new home.
I love these scarecrows...think they are so cute!
Yet another garage sale find. This cute black cart was only $5! Yep, a score in my opinion! My mom made the pumpkins on top a few years back for me. They light up! Below I put some gourds and fake leaves as well as a plant. We got a couple storms that just tore it apart so it doesn't look quite as pretty anymore, but I'm tired of fixing it, so it is what it is. That cute scarecrow in front has been eyeing the neighbors scarecrows. There must be a girl over there as he keeps trying to go across the street! (Okay thats my bad humor, the neighbor has a cute scarecrow couple on her front porch....my little one is so darn light the wind takes him for little jaunts often!)

I came across a new blog (or new to me). Its called Pretty Little Paper Love. She has some fun blog candy up for grabs! Go over and check her out!

Our Landscaping Project

We were able to do quite a bit of landscaping this weekend. I love to see before and after photos, so I thought I'd share them with you!

Here is our house when we bought it...
Here is is after Chris killed all the weeds and plowed it.
And here it is after we were able to build up a flower bed, lay bark dust and plant some trees and flowers.
I came up with the idea to get these pavers or whatever they are called and build a raised flower bed.
I just LOVE how it came out. Today we went and bought some really cool flowers for it. I can't wait til next year when they fill out some more and bloom!
This is one of my favorite plants that we planted near the tree in the island.
This is one that I planted in the raised flower bed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Landscaping

Chris took off Friday morning to get our first load of sod. We thought the trailer could handle three pallets, but as it turned out it could only handle two. When we bought my truck it came with a rack system thing in the back. We also have a toolbox in the back and because of those we weren't able to put a load in the bed of the truck. So, Chris dropped of the trailer, popped the toolbox out and went for the third pallet.

Peyton was SO excited he instantly started playing on the pieces we were laying.
So here is the before....
And here it is after...
I carved a little area out where we are going to build it up and plant a tree and some flowers. I also plan on laying some pavers and building up a little flower bed in front of the front porch.
Chris got the front and side done on Friday and then took off Saturday morning for the final two pallets of sod and finished up the side and back yards.

Here is the backyard before...
And after...
Before...
And after....
Its hard to see, but in the back corner we have a 3 tiered water fountain. We plan on planting some flowers around that area too.
It went a lot quicker than I had thought. I helped a tiny bit in the front, but because of Miss Maddy wasn't able to help much. There is still so much left to do. It will be a slower process thats for sure. We haven't decided for sure whether we are doing pea gravel or bark dust. I like the looks of bark dust and thats what all the neighbors have, but I DON'T like the maintenance of it and the yearly expense of it to keep it looking fresh.

A few things around the house...

First off, I apologize for the bad pictures, I've tried and tried to get better ones and am just giving up. After I picked up Peyton from preschool yesterday I stopped by a second hand store here in town that I found. My bathroom counter was driving me nuts. This is what it looked like....
I found this neat little wooden tray that had three wooden boxes with lift lids. The Dixie cups didn't fit in a box, so I removed the center box. This looks so much better. Now to find a cute little container for my jewelry.
I don't like having the toothpaste, face wash, and that sorta stuff out on the counters, but not sure what to do with it if I don't. It would annoy me to have to take it out from under the cabinet every time I wanted it, but maybe after getting used to it, I wouldn't mind. What do you do with all the bathroom clutter? At my parents house they have cabinets on both sides of the sink. That was really nice. We have double sinks here so it wouldn't work for us.
Next up is my piano! Isn't she pretty? It is the piano my mom grew up with. My mom sewed me a really pretty table runner that fits perfect on the back (I should have gotten a close up). My cousin bought me the wall piece for my birthday and I just LOVE it! Now, I have at least one corner of my house decorated! haha!
I also got this cute little shelf put up and pictures in the frames.
I plan on finding a family or love vinyl quote to put above them. Anyone able to link me up with one or have a favorite quote you want to share with me?

Thats about it for me for now. More scrappy fun coming soon! I have a couple layouts to share!

A BIG Mess and a New Project

First off, Heather, if you are looking at this, come back after your mom has given you your birthday present from me that I sent with her.

I have been asked how the unpacking is coming. Its coming along slowly and not like I planned. I wasn't going to unpack anything before I decided if I was keeping or tossing it. Well, with the help of a 1 year old and almost 4 year old, that just wasn't possible. heehee!
This picture is looking down over the living room from the top of the stairs. Most of the boxes in the corner are decorations, stuff I need to go through or garage sale items. Not to bad you say....we have no empty closet and a full garage! So these items are either going to find a home or go in the garage sale box as I unpack them. This will be my last area I attack.

Here is our family room. The couch...well...lets just say its staying downstairs for a while! haha! This room is coming along. I have my scrappy area to set up but its pretty much unpacked for the most part. We still have a little to do with the computer hutch and figuring out how to hide all of our paper work and misc. things like that. It will quite the little task.

This is the hall, it looks a million times better. Since last Friday there was a little tiny space to walk through to get to the bedrooms. I've been able to clean up a bit since this picture. It now only has that large box (the garage sale box that is filling up with the kids stuff) and my baby play mat. I loved that thing so much I am having a hard time getting rid of it. Why I would hold onto I don't know as we are done having kids...but it was SSSSOOO handy for Peyton and Maddy.
So here is a tip I learned. When packing and marking boxes...make sure you cross out the description/label of whats in the box from the previous move, and the move before that, and the move before that! lol...I have found numerous boxes with 2-3 different descriptions on them! :)
My cousin turned 30 last week and I wanted to make her gift. I made a magnetic board for myself a while back and loved it. I thought she might enjoy one also. With the move and everything happening I didn't get very good pictures. I couldn't decide what color scheme to use so I decided to do a double sided magnetic board. This is one side:

I took a few pictures off of her facebook page and created little magnets using her sons photo.
The other side...well...I can't locate the pictures at the moment. That is if I took them! :0) Maybe she'll take a picture of it and e-mail it to me so I can share it with you.

Thats it for now! I was able to make it to my scrappy night last night and finish up a layout that I'll hopefully be sharing soon! Thanks for stopping by!

More House Pictures

Okay, I've had lots of requests for inside pictures. I took some today, but beware, I was too lazy to remove the clutter that has already started! :)

As you walk in my front door, this is what you see:

A view from the corner of the entryway. I just LOVE the opening from the kitchen to the living room!
Here is the another shot from the corner of the living room towards the front door:

Here is my kitchen...like I said, pardon the mess! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my hickory cabinets!
Yes we have a fridge, we just haven't gotten it there yet. Can I say Craigslist ROCKS! We found a KILLER deal on a stainless steal fridge on Craigslist. It was the style (french double door with freezer on bottom) that I didn't think we'd be able to get on our budget...but we did!
Another view of my kitchen: Side note, why on the world would you put in a white sink when all your appliances are stainless steel? Yes, the sink may be brand new....but its going to be changed out in the near future (near as in a year....lol...)!
This would be our eentsy weentsy dining area...haha! I'm anxious to see our new (well new to us cause I like Craigslist WAY to much!) table in this area!
That doorway leads to a hall. If you hook a right it takes you to our bedroom and if you go straight there is a powder room, laundry and door to the garage.

Peytons room before we started painting:
Maddy's room before painting:

Now are ya ready for this one? You may call us crazy....you may say 'what in the world were you thinking', you may say 'are you crazy', you may say 'poor kids'....haha!

Now are you sure you are ready for this?
Okay, here it is....
These are the kids rooms part way through the paint. We'll be putting white chair railing up between the two colors.

Peytons room:

Maddy's room:The purple doesn't show up all so well in the pictures, but it looks FABULOUS in real life!

See, I wondered if you'd be ready! haha! It took me a lot longer than I thought to scrub the bathrooms, vacuum the base boards and carpets and where they meet, and wipe down the cupboards in the kitchen and other rooms. Chris painted most of the day and put up shelving in the pantry and got the garage door opener up. More work tomorrow and then hopefully we'll be ready for our big move next week!
So there ya got it. More pictures!
Now for those of you looking for scrapbooking related posts...no worries. I have a few posts up my sleeves so check back soon! Make sure you stop by on the 8th. I'll be participating in a fun blog hop!

Moving...again!

Yep, we are on the move again! This will be our 9th move in just over 7 years! I'm hoping its the last one for quite a few years too. We plan on going in this weekend and cleaning, painting and doing some odds and ends. Then we will move everything over next weekend!

I plan on actually decorating this house! We've moved so much that I really haven't attempted my hand at decorating. But I've been getting all sorts of ideas from HGTV and blogs. I'll be sharing before and after photos along my journey!
I have a layout to share soon for Scrap A Little and will be participating in a Blog Hop for Creative Cuts and More so check back soon for those!
