The Paper Variety Challenge

Hello all!  Happy National Scrapbook Day!  I'm not getting much scrappy time this weekend, but I am having a great day today so far, so I can't complain!  I went out garage saling and got to go to the grocery store all by myself!  Chris took off with the kids and I have had some quiet time...or not so quiet as I had the music blaring while I cleaned and did laundry!

On to some projects.  Next week is Teacher Appreciation week.  Peyton has such a fantastic teacher, I wanted to send something in to her every day.  Here are a couple things I have made so far.  I haven't been able to play along with the Paper Variety challenges for quite some time.  I am excited to be able to play along with this months challenge, which is to use a handmade flower on your project.

These were cans of pears.  I emptied them out from the bottom, washed them, filled them with mini snickers and taped the bottom back on.  I am putting a fancy can opening on my wish list so that I can glue the cans back on.
I pulled a fun piece of paper from my scrap pile and cut a flower from my Cricut Flower Shoppe cartridge to jazz it up.
Next thing I made were these:
Super simple...the best kind of project.  The one with gumballs is for his PE teacher.  It says 'Thank you for CHEWsing to teach.  Peyton has a BALL with you'.  Cheezy but cute!

And here is a couple of the things I found while out garage saling.
I've seen so many fun ideas with crates on Pinterest that at a buck, I snagged the one above quick.  I can't decide if I want to hang it on the wall and have it be where Peyton puts his homework folder and papers, or if I want to find a spot for it in my kitchen.  The metal things are trivets.  I plan on spray painting them shiny red and then prettying up the tiles for the inside.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you all are having (or had) a fab weekend!

Breath Taking layout and Garage Sale Finds

I've been having a lot of fun playing at Birds of a Feather Crop! I have gotten a couple layouts and a couple cards done! Wahoo! Chris has been fantastic at keeping the kids entertained and their needs met so I could scrap away! :-)

One of the challenges at the BOAF crop was to scrap a photo of an inanimate object! :-0 I had to think hard about this one. When I was thumbing through my photos I came across a few photos I have been putting off. It just so happens, the sketch worked perfect for the photos. Karen told me about the Pretty Little Studio. They post a sketch on their blog and I decided to play along with it.
I LOVE this Crate Paper line! The papers and die cuts seemed to go well with the pictures.
I scored and sanded a line around the edges to give it a little umph. The brown circle is attached to my journaling spot.

These photos were taken the day we hiked to the top of Haystack to spread my Grandpa's ashes. This is where we spread my Grandma, Aunt and Uncles ashes here and this is where I hope to have my ashes spread. Its so beautiful up there. Its quite a bit of a hike, but so well worth it! The lower photo is showing a lot of my Grandfathers land that has been in the family for over 150 years. This land holds so much history.

Don't f0rget I am participating in this next week:

I was able to get out and garage sale a bit Friday and Saturday. I found a few games for 75 cents each!
I LOVE Uno and its been years since I've played! Peyton seemed to enjoy it so I see lots of Uno in our future.
This game was BRAND NEW! :-0 Peyton has had a blast with it and it will be perfect for Chris's family reunion coming up in a few weekends.
This was a fun game too. We played it quite a few times.

I found a few other things too. I was very excited to find a 3-wheeled Princess scooter with a basket on front. And for only $3! Maddy LOVES her 'princess' scooter! A chalk board to alter for my scrap space, a pair of really nice black Levi dress pants for Maddy for a buck. Some other odds and ends too!

I'm still hoping to hit a good garage garage sale that has clothes for both kids. I haven't had much luck in the clothes area so far this year!

I'd love to hear what you were up too this weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Layouts and Garage Saling

I have been super busy lately! Haven't I been saying that the last couple of posts???? I just finished up, well, almost finished up a special mini for a blog hop I'm participating in late July! Keep your eyes open for it! Its one of my favorites I have ever made!

While at the wedding last weekend, I remembered it was my Mother-in-laws birthday today! :-0 I had nothing in mind and no ideas! I had started her an 8x8 album a while back so I decided to pump out a couple simple layouts to add to it. After all, its all about the photos, right?
My good friend Karen won this adorable October Afternoon camping line and had it sent to me cause she knew I'd have lots of camping and outdoor photos! I just LOVE this line!
For this Christmas layout I used my My Minds Eye paper stack and a few other odds and ends of embellies.
Sorry about the glare in the photo above. Remember...I said super simple...you don't get much more simple than this one! ;-) I used Echo Park for this one!

I need to work harder at making sure I do layouts for my mom's and mother-in-laws albums. I get so behind in my own I forget about theirs!

Not on to garage saling! I just LOVE this time of year when they start popping up like crazy! I try to limit how many I go to and plan a little route out so that I can get the most out of both kids! Yes...I take both with me! :-0 I hit some REALLY good sales today. Wanna see some of what I got?

This Little People Set in EXCELLENT shape, the gal had even taped the above image to the front of a plastic zippered bag she kept the animals in. Its roughly around $50 and I got it for $5!!!!
This game has gotten much cuter than the version I played as a kid. Cowboy hat and bows instead of ears. Lips and teeth instead of the chin swirl thing. Skates and feet instead of legs. Yeah...much cuter! It looked brand new, only a $1.
These things are so fun! They are called Popoids. Amazon has the set for around $50-60. This isn't the set we got, but really similar. I scored it for $2!
A Spiderman Mask to go with the Spiderman costume I bought Peyton for a quarter. Making his whole halloween costume under $1!!!!!

I also found a really nice OSU fleece jacket and t-shirt for Peyton, some cones to set up courses for Peyton on his bike and a few other things. Tomorrow is a neighborhood garage sale. I'm hoping to find a little childrens table and chair set for our kitchen.

Garage Sale and Games

Since I'm lacking crafty time and new projects to share, I thought I'd start sharing my garage sale finds! :-) I'm a garage sale addict, really there should be a program for people like me. I see signs and postings on Craigslist and get anxiety attacks. It seems to be getting harder and harder for me to get out though. :-( Peyton is losing interest in going with me and it is a pain taking both kids in and out of the car at every stop. We did get out this morning though!

I found two of these! Only $2.50 each. Do you remember the Home Interiors mirror/shelf that I altered using Cosmo Crickets Wanted line? You can see it here. I thought I might do something similar. I put a 6" ruler in the center to give you an idea of its size.

We found this game for fifty cents! You can see it here at Amazon. We've already played it. It is a very fun game! I would highly recommend it! GREAT for a little bit of age span between kids playing it and Peyton LOVES the dancing part! Unfortunately, we are missing one penguin, so I'm going to have to find a substitute. But hey, for fifty cents I can't complain!
Speaking of games, Peyton got a really fun game for his birthday. Its called Cat in the Hat I can Do That. You can see it here at Amazon.com. He had a BLAST playing this game. I swear he played it for at least 4 hours the first night/day he had it! He has fun playing it on his own too, which is a huge plus for me! :-)

Anyone else garage sale lately or come across something new and fun? I'd love to hear about it!

Garage Saling

Since I don't have anything new to share with you today, I thought I'd share the treasures we found garage saling this morning.
Peyton LOVEs the bop bags, but we tend to pop them somehow. We found a brand new one (still in its box) with blow up punching gloves too! I've been on the looking for pots and pans and accessories for their little play kitchen and found a nice little bag full of them. Peyton spotted this pirate ship and wouldn't let it go. Of course you can't NOT buy a dinosaur when you see it! Total: $4! Yep, thats a steal in my mind, especially considering Maddy already broke a piece the pirate ship. haha!

On to clothes, an OSU sweatshirt, two sets of pj's, three t-shirts and one polo: Total: $6! Can't go wrong there!

My brother is decorating his babies room in Oregon State Beavers! Yep, orange, black and white! I found this frame and couldn't resist it. Its one of those that you put pictures in the letters.
I was shocked to find this for $1! I'm drawn to handmade purses and these batik fabrics!
I've been on the hunt for storage pieces for my new scrappy hutch. These are the larger jars and a STEAL at a buck. I went to Goodwill and they had much smaller ones for $2.99 each! *GASP* I thought that was a pretty high price, but what can I say, more power to them if they can sell them at that price! ;-)

And the little Miss...picked her up today for pretty cheap too! ;-) Just joking! She has quite the personality and is quite the crack up these days. She found Big Brother's shoes and put them on all by herself and was SO proud as she walked into the kitchen!

So there you have it. I really hope to have some scrappy stuff to share with you soon! I'm working on a special DT project that I won't be able to share for quite a while. I'm also still working on my scrap space which is a complete disaster at the moment!

Have a great weekend!
