Project 12 June using Simple Stories.

I am still continuing to create a layout for every month, trying to recap that months events.  Project 12 is not going anymore, but I am continuing on with it as I like it so much!  I have pinned numerous two pagers on Pinterest to help inspire me.

Birds of a Feather posted a fantastic two page sketch for their sketch challenge this month.  I knew instantly that I wanted to use it for a Project 12 layout.  Here is June's layout.

I continue to use Kraft as the base and Simple Stories papers.
My kids were in heavy jackets for a parade in June!  :-0
And then a few days later shorts and sundresses!  Haha!

June was a busy month for us.  We kicked it off with the school carnival.  I volunteered at the event and GG's (Great Grandparents) came and took the kids to the carnival.  Chris and Peyton finished up their t-ball season.  Chris enjoyed coaching and Peyton really enjoyed playing.  We (the kids and I) spent a lot of time in Peyton's classroom the last few weeks of school and even after school was out.  Peyton's teacher moved out of state.  :-(  So we helped her pack up her room.  The Crooked River Round Up (rodeo and horse races) was kicked off with a parade.  Maddy was so cute waving at all the princesses and queens as they rode by.  It was a mix of weather and we tried to get outside when the sun shown.  We had a big down pour one afternoon and I sent the kids out to play in it!  They had a TON of fun and thought it was really cool to be able to play in the rain like that!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope your week is off to a good start!

More layouts and Photos

As I mentioned in a previous post, I discovered some layouts I hadn't taken pictures of and shared and also found a few on my little netbook I don't use very often anymore.

This is another quick and simple layout.  Lately I have been creating layouts with many photos and two pages layouts.  The pictures in the layout are from when both brothers and sisters in laws came over to work on wedding invitations and party favors for one of the brother in laws wedding.  Confused yet?  Maybe I should just toss out the in-law part.  :-)  Maddy was quite attached to her Uncle Adam.  Ad one point I caught her sitting in his lap as he was trying to work on the wedding invitations.  So cute!  :-)  I am so blessed with fantastic brother and sisters that the kids love!  :-)
The line above is super old.  But I loved it so much I couldn't get rid of it and knew I could create a layout with a few small scraps!

Next up is my March Project 12 layout.  Project 12 is important to me.  Even if I don't have time to be scrappy, I try my best to at least get my Project 12 done.  I think years down the road I will enjoy reading the recaps of every month.  March was full of the kiddos being sick.  :-(  They got better just in time for Spring Break which we spent camping.

I am so excited to be seeing more and more garage sales pop up.  :-)  This was my haul from last weekend. 4 games for the kids, a camping folding chair (like new), a little purse for me, a book for Maddy, a few craft kits for the kids, a few pieces of clothing and two little clipboard things I plan to use for a road trip.  They open up and have a compartment perfect for a coloring book and some markers.  No more 'uh oh Mommy, the bag of markers fell' the kids getting frustrated with not having a hard surface to color on.  All this for $12.  I was pretty happy about that!  Especially considering we have played most of the games many times now as well as the book has helped Miss Maddy not have accidents.

I also found this purse Maddy is holding at a garage sale.  It looked new.  I got it for my sister in law who mentioned she was wanting a purple purse.  Maddy would NOT let it out of her site!  She even went to bed with it and took it to the grocery store and carnival with her!  Haha!
We had a few nice days last week.  The kids were able to get outside and play. While on their play structure, they found a frog!  I was shocked to see both of them picking up the frog!
Even Maddy caught it and held it!
Crazy kids!  It is pretty darn cute to watch Maddy try though as she is usually just an inch short of grabbing it before it hops away.  haha!  I sure hope warm weather is on its way back again.  I'd like to get back outside and not freeze!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fell off the bandwagon....

I have fallen off the scrappy bandwagon.  How I miss it and want to jump back on board!  I was able to finish up a layout this week (in the whole half hour I had, haha!).  But other than that it has been a couple weeks.  :-(  I think National Scrapbook weekend was when I scrapped last.  The kids are demanding more and we have been gone lots.  Hopefully this summer I will be able to find more time.  Maybe bribe the kids with a trip to the park if they give me some scrappy time without fighting and tons of interruptions.

One of this months challenges at Birds of a Feather is to scraplift a layout in the gallery.  I chose this beautiful layout by my super talented friend Karen.
And this is my take on it:
I really want to keep going on my Project 12 (a layout each month recapping the month).  I loved her squares and used that as my jumping point.  Its not very exciting...none of my Project 12 layouts are.  But they are done and I am okay with that.

This past weekend we went camping.  YAY!  Oh, how I have missed camping!  I really wish I could buck up and learn how to drive the trailer so that we could do it more often.  Its the whole backing thing that has me scared.  Anyhow....we were able to get our favorite spot.  It seems people go out earlier and earlier every year to snag there spots.  I started getting anxious seeing all the trucks and trailers headed through town.
What is camping with out a little Washers?  My father in law built this game and it is one of our favorites.
Maddy sitting with her Grandma.  Stealing her lemonade.  Poor Grandma couldn't keep a bottle of ice tea or lemonade without the kids trying to take sips off it.  I have ice tea too, but Grandma's is better!  :-)  Isn't that true though?  Its always better if it comes from a Grandma!
The kids had a blast in their Power Wheels Jeep. Unfortunately, the tires are getting bald and it struggles getting traction out at camp.  They still had fun though.  Grandpa and Grandma got their workout pushing the kids around when they got stuck and/or wouldn't go.
I think the Little Miss will be our Archery girl.  She had a lot of fun with Peyton's bow and arrow.
A new tradition for us is saving our Christmas tree and the last night of Memorial Day Weekend camp tossing it on the fire.  Its is neat to watch!

I am still couponing.  I get giddy with excitement when I can go into a store and walk out with freebies (the Colgate toothpaste and some of the sodas) or cheap cheap items like boxes of cereal for 75 cents.  I have spent a lot of time in this new hobby and am just now learning how to take less time saving money.
Then there is t-ball.  Peyton is LOVING it!  He caught his first ball in the air that was hit by the opposing team!  VERY cool to watch!  I have been a bad mommy about getting photos.  MUST.REMEMBER.CAMERA!  Here is the Miss Maddy on her way to last nights game.
Yes that is a tiara and camo jacket.  What is missing in the photo is the blue Spiderman sandals with Princess socks on.  haha!

Thanks for stopping by!

Project 12 February 2012...only a bit late!

I have had this layout done for a while.  I just haven't had time to get pictures of it and get them uploaded.
It seems I just don't have time to scrapbook these days.  :-(  I miss it!  Since I have such little scrappy time, I am keeping things SUPER simple!  This year I chose to do ALL my Project 12 layouts using the Simple Stories lines.  Most of them blend together really well and I felt that, on top of using Kraft cardstock, would make the album seem to all flow together well.

The left side:

Our weather had been cold and cloudy for quite some time.  The sun finally came to make an appearance, we took full advantage and went fishing.  I packed up some snacks while Chris loaded up the truck.  We got to the fishing spot to find out Chris didn't take the time to buy my fishing license!  Haha!  Its okay though, it was fun to be outside and watch the kids fish.  Maddy and I spent quite a bit of time in Peyton's classroom.  We all just love his teacher. She is FABULOUS!

The right side:

One of the weekends in February, Chris and I were able to sneak away to Kah-Nee-Tah for the weekend. Every year the Rotary has their big fundraiser out there.  There is silent auctions, a yummy buffet, live auctions then live dancing.  We look forward to this event every year and had a blast as usual.  We got all dressed up and had a wonderful night out.  My favorite live band was playing and I danced the night away!  :-)

Chris was making some goody baskets for the local CPA's.  Such a nice guy he is and such a great idea!  I offered to help him this year.  So he brought home bags and bags of all sorts of stuff and I put together baskets.  I couldn't let them go out the door this way though.  So I made these tags to attach to them:
It is a horrible photo, the coloring and lighting is all off.  But it gives an idea of what they all looked like.  I had him write on the back and attached them with ribbon.  So much prettier with a tag on them!  :-)

Thanks for stopping by!  I have more layouts to share, so check back soon!  This time I actually saved the editing so it won't be a week before I get a chance to stop back by!

What.....I've scrapped?????

Are you shocked? I certainly am! I found myself in a state where I didn't want to do what I had on my to do list. It wasn't anything that absolutely HAD to be done, so I sat down and started my November Project 12 layout.
I took Karen's lead on swapping the November and December sketches.

The left side....
The right side....
And a close up....
I haven't been a huge Basic Grey fan (*gasp* I know...I know....). But I fell in love with this Out of Print line. This was a fun layout. I was able to use up a bunch of random embellishments, stickers and papers I had one hand.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

October Project 12

It is a lot later than I had hoped to complete it, but it is now done! Here is my October Project 12 layout using Jillibean Soup (LOVE this line):
I really liked the sketch. Most of my pictures were horizontal, so I switched the right page to have a 3x3 grid with square photos.
Yep, I did a major blooper in my journaling. I wrote Chris went elk hunting when I was the one to go hunting! :-0 Its all right though, I will come back and figure out how to fix it later.
I added some stitching between the photos and zig zags where the different patterned papers met.
One of my favorite things about Jillibean soup is all their die-cuts. They make embellishing easy!

Thank you for stopping by!

September Project 12 and The Paper Variety layout

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I went to my first ever crop! I had A BLAST! I cannot wait to go to one again. I met some wonderful women, did a lot of scrapbooking and even enjoyed a live band with some dancing.

My first project was to complete my September Project 12 layout. I say this every time, but I just LOVE project 12! How cool to have a a WHOLE year documented in 12 double page layouts at the beginning of the following year? If you ask me, you can't beat that. Even better yet for me, Davinie has fantastic sketches each month, which really helps me get them done quicker.
My pictures had so many bold colors in it that I struggled choosing papers. I dug deep in my stash and pulled out this Fancy Pants About a Boy line. I have to admit, it is quite old but I just LOVE it!
A closer look at the left page.
And the right page.
I used to struggle with the die cuts that came with lines. I now enjoy inking and layering them.

I had so much fun with the little pocket. I ran it through my Cuddlebug with a polka dot embossing folder and then inked it up. I again inked and layered some die cuts. I wish I had taken my sewing machine so I could have done some stitching. But I only had so much room.

Our month in a recap: Chris and I took Peyton to his first game. He did REALLY well and enjoyed watching it. But it was HOT and we were up in the corner with the full sun on us in the peak of the day. Peyton and I took off at half time in search of a soda and toy! Chris spent quite a few evenings and weekends archery hunting. I smashed Peyton's fingers in the door on the way to meet his teacher. This led to a pretty rough meeting. Peyton started Kindergarten and LOVES it! He can't get out of the Tahoe fast enough to run into the gym. We were able to spend a few afternoons on the swingset before school started. The kids enjoyed helping Chris dig and pick veggies from the garden. Chris and I went to another Beaver's game and this time we stayed the night and had a blast tailgating.

Now onto my next layout. I have been enjoying playing along with the challenges over at The Paper Variety. I struggle, and I mean STRUGGLE scrapping holidays, especially Halloween. I conquered TWO Halloween layouts this weekend. This one...I'm not liking at all. But its done and ready to go in a album.
I apologize for the date on the picture. I'm not liking the layout enough to think it worth the time to get another picture! haha!

Thanks for stopping by!

August Project 12

First off, I have the hardest darn time getting a good picture of a 2-page layout. :-l I get quite frustrated. Any tips? I don't have a fancy program that could stitch two individual photos together. All I can do is crop and mess with the colors a tiny teen bit.

Anyhow, this is my layout for August for the Project 12.
I love the fun and bright colors in these papers and on this layout. The sketch had 3 photo spots, but I just couldn't narrow it down to three, so I did 7!
I hand stitched the butterflies paths and also did some machine stitching. I added a few staples around the title just for fun! I barely fit all the journaling from the month in! I doodled around the edge to make it stand out a tad bit more.
I did a bit of doodling too.
Just a few close ups...

As or the journaling, these are some hi-lights as I'm sure its pretty hard to read from the picture. he month was kicked off with my mom treating the kids to an afternoon at Sun Mountain Fun Center. We spent the first weekend in Madras at the DuPont family reunion camp out. I spent the next week getting ready for my garage sale. Al, Linda, Harvey, Janet, Richard, Brenda, Chris, Peyton and Maddy went fishing at Walton Lake while I had my garage sale. The following Monday Harvey and Janet took Maddy and I up to OHSU for Maddy's follow up doctor appointment. That Friday, Milton, Heidi, Chris and I took off for the Willamette Country Music Festival in Brownsville, trailer in tow. I had 2 days at home to unpack, clean and repack before heading to my moms for yet another garage sale. The sale was Friday and Saturday. Saturday afternoon my mom and I went to a beautiful outdoor wedding. Sunday we celebrated my Step Grandma's 90th birthday! We spent quite a bit of time at my parents house this month. We were able to pull out the pool and slide for the kids quite a bit, which they absolutely loved! Peyton also got to go down to the garden with Grandpa John to dig potatoes a couple times. He LOVES helping out in the garden. There have been a handful of lightning storms causing fires all over the place. This caused smoke filled horizons. The last weekend kicked off bow season for Chris.

If you made it through all of that...kudos to you! :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

July 2011's Project 12

I have been LOVING participating in Project 12. I think it is the neatest idea and one I will treasure for a long long time! My journaling struggles sometimes. I document events and wish I would be better documenting about the kids, the things they say and their personalities. Hopefully I can remember to do that in August.
I loved July's sketch! This Echo Park line jumped out to me when I was going through my papers.
July was such a busy month that journaling spot wasn't big enough! :-0 I drew a line around the edges of the kraft paper just to give it a more finished feel. This layout is very simple. I ran out of time and ran out of ideas on how to jazz it up.
Those little glass beads on the banner, or whatever they are, I found at my Grandpa's house while cleaning it after the estate sale. I thought they'd be perfect for scrapbooking!

In case your wondering about the journaling it went something like this: July started with the end of Em's summer visit. Followed by the 4th of July with a bbq at a friends house and watching the fireworks from the front lawn. Peyton had gymnastics twice a week (which he LOVED) and we also had the library summer reading program. The grandparents kept the kids for a weekend so Chris and I could attend the Customer Appreciation Concerts put on by his work. We had A BLAST seeing Dirt Drifters. My Uncle Dale passed away. We ended the month camping at Walton Lake (love that place) and attending a cousin significant others funeral and spending time with the family. We were on the run a lot. Anytime we knew we were going to be at my moms, she'd fill up the pool for them. They spent HOURS in this pool with a slide.

June Project 12

Good morning! I finished this layout yesterday and couldn't wait to share it with you! It is my June Project 12 layout!

I instantly fell in love with June's sketch! We had such a busy month it was hard to narrow down the photos. The sketch had 5 photos, but I snuck in an extra one! I was having a hard time getting a good photo. Thanks Karen for helping me get the colors adjusted! The papers and chipboard are Cosmo Cricket and the stickers are Echo Park!
A close up of the left side. We had Adam and Adina's wedding, the Round Up Cattle Drive and Parade and the Carnival and Rodeo all within two weeks!
Now the right side. Peyton raced his stick horse at the rodeo. Peyton had two days a week. We finished off the month with my cousins yearly week long visit! I struggled with how to do the journaling. In the end, I decided to cut strips and outline them, adhering them to each photo. I wanted to make sure and note that Peyton also graduated preschool (which my pictures from it came out HORRIBLE) and that we spent the week at my moms house when my cousin was here. So I added a few extra strips and matted them on the dark brown cardstock to tie in with the dark brown title. Now for some close ups! This layout was pretty time consuming. But in the end I'm very happy with the results. I did some stitching on the patterned papers. I love how stitching looks on layouts and wish I did it more often. I also did some paper curling. I bought a quilling tool and it made the curling so much easier! The bracket shape I found on-line and printed off in the size I wanted. I then traced it onto a piece of cardstock and the photo and cut them out. I just noticed that I didn't put the year on there. I will do so in Tiny Type stickers below the picture of Peyton at gymnastics.
The cloud sticker was too big so I cut part of it off and then layered it.

We had a busy and fun weekend! Friday morning Peyton went in for his first ever dentist appointment! The dentist said it was a picture perfect appointment! He did a great job and it was a great experience. Thankfully my mom came and took Maddy out for me as she was being a handful. We then took off garage saling.
My mom took the kids home with her as Chris and I had a customer appreciation concert to go to Friday and Saturday night. Thank goodness for family some-what close by! I am so lucky to have 2 sets of grandparents and one set of great grandparents that my kids LOVE to go visit and stay with! The kids spent one night with my parents and one night with Chris's parents. Saturday night we saw the Dirt Drifters. I was able to go backstage and meet them too! The radio station was taking pictures and hopefully I'll be able to get the one of Chris and me with them. I really like them and they were very friendly.
We had a lot of fun both nights but Saturday was the best! I actually got a picture of us together! :-0 Shocking...I know! ;-)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you'll come back soon!
