Papa's Girl No Patterned Paper Layout and CROP!!!

Amy challenged us over at Birds of a Feather to create/alter our own background paper! I thought to myself...okay, that's not so bad. You could stamp, use paint or mist....but then I kept reading to hear an additional twist, after all it is a 'challenge', right? The twist...you couldn't use patterned paper!!!! Here is my take on the challenge using a sketch from Creative Scrappers.
Looking at it after I glued everything down really well, I wish I would have moved the title out a bit. Somethings kinda off but I can't figure out what.
I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the squares and a Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies.
Thank you to Karen for this super cute butterfly! Its just perfect for this layout!

I found this picture on my parents computer. Maddy's puckered lips crack me up. I can't remember when it was taking but guessed it was Winter of 2009.

This also works for the challenge over at The Paper Variety. Their challenge this week is all the colors of the rainbow or grids. I created a grid with my embossed squares. Head on over and play along! TPV is such a fun challenge blog!

What do you have going on this weekend? Do you feel like scrapping? Head over to Birds of a Feather. There is going to be a crop! Amy always comes up with fun challenges and we always have a great time! Challenges start Friday morning! Head over there soon as Laura has already posted the Bingo words!

Mr. & Mrs. Always

Amy over at Birds of a Feather challenged us to take a photo and edit it two different ways, then scrap the photos. A while back I was told about a site called Be Funky. Since my computer situation is quite pathetic and I don't have a photo editing program, I used Be Funky.

I used a sketch from Creative Scrappers. The Cosmo Cricket Circa line has been screaming at me to use it for a while now. What, papers never screamed at you???? Well, your missing out then! ;-)
Because I hate to cut into a full sheet of paper for a itty bitty square, I cute the little squares out of a Cosmo Cricket brochure/catalog. :-)
I added a few beads to the pins to jazz them up (no this was not my idea...I came across it a while back) and made some satin flowers. I wish you all could see these flowers in real life. They are so pretty! My mom bought me some Jenni Bowlin Core'dinations embossed paper for my birthday and it worked perfect for this layout!
I didn't have shorter pin or one that would work for under the butterfly (which was punched using a Martha Stewart punch). So I made my own! :-) I cut a piece of wire and glued a few beads on the end! A little inking on the butterfly and a couple dabs of Ranger Enamel Accents and I call it done. I kinda wish there was something behind the butterfly, but I couldn't figure out what!

Thanks for stopping by! I have a few more layouts ready to share, so please stop back soon!

Creative Scrappers Sketch #140 using Cosmo Cricket

Good morning! I came across this CUTE sketch last week! It just so happened that Amy at Birds of a Feather had challenge us to take 5 pictures of what winter means to us then scrap them! I had missed my chance at getting snow picture. But came up with 5 others. Perfect timing as its a twofer...I got to complete two different challenges with one layout! :-)

I just LOVE my Cosmo Cricket! Jolly By Golly was perfect for this layout! :-)
Tip: NEVER EVER try to match cardstock with poor lighting at night. In the morning you will regret it! ;-) I used some of the fun rub-ons on the pictures and to add a little something to the title.
Why oh why did this turn sideways? Anywho....I pleated a strip of paper then sewed it down. I also did some faux paper pleating, love the looks of it. I couldn't find just the right colored numbers, so I sanded these Pink Paislee ones down and used distressing ink on them.

5 things that mean winter to me:
1. Fun hats! I am very fortunate to have a super talented mom. She made both my kids hats that they LOVE! (although the one shown she bought).
2. Photo opportunities, like Maddy taking all her clothes off down to her diaper and putting on Peytons boots!
3. Icy cold weather. I tried to catch the car thermometer reading 'ice' but didn't catch it in time. 4. I LOVE my slippers and where them ALL the time when I'm at home! The ones in the picture are my favorites.
5. We seem to get more snuggle time and couch time in.

The last time we were at my moms it all of a sudden got eerily quiet. I went to check to see what the Little Miss was doing and she was reading Mema's book! :-) She was quietly talking as she turned the pages! Haha!
Mema has this LadyBug game. Peyton LOVES it! He could play it for hours and if he can't find anyone to play with him, he plays by himself! :-)
Thanks for stopping by!
